Faith Ford was born on 14 September, 1964 in Alexandria, USA. She is the daughter of Pat, a school teacher and Charles Ford, an Insurance Agent. She studied from the Pineville High School but moved to New York city when she was seventeen. Her sister, Devon O’day, is a country radio host, owns a media company and is also an Author. Faith Ford’s second marriage was to Campion Murphy, who is a personal trainer and a writer. Her first marriage, with Robert Nottingham, was not successful and they got divorced in 1996. Faith was diagnosed with the Graves disease and has to watch her diet. She is a former roommate of Jane Leeves and is also a good friend of Kelly Ripa. Apart from acting she loves cooking and wrote a cookbook ‘Cooking with Faith’ which was published in 2004.
Faith had an inclination towards acting since childhood when she acted in school plays. She started working as a model and also did some commercials at the age of seventeen, when she moved to New York. She got her first TV role in 1983, in ABC’s ‘One Life to Live’. She then acted as “Julia Shearer” in NBC’s ‘Another World‘ for several years; this was her first major role. She moved to Hollywood and got a role in ‘The Popcorn Kid’, acted in ‘Thirtysomething‘ (1987) and later on in ‘Murphy Brown’ (1988) as “Corky”. Over the years, Faith was nominated five times in the Emmy’s for her portrayal of the character of “Corky”. She worked in nine seasons of ‘Murphy Brown’.
Her first big screen appearance was in ‘You Talkin’ to Me’ (1987). In 1998 she worked as an executive producer of her own series ‘Maggie Winters’. She also appeared in ‘The Norm Show‘ from 1999-2001. Faith Ford and her husband Campion Murphy co-produced ‘Citation of Merit’ a short film which appeared in numerous film festivals across U.S. She starred with Kelly Ripa in ‘Hope and Faith’. In 2005 she appeared in a Disney’s movie ‘The Pacifier‘. She appeared in ‘Carpoolers‘ in 2007.
She has to her credit 5 nominations in Emmy’s (1989-1992 and in 1995) as Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy series for ‘Murphy Brown’. She was also nominated in Golden Globe Awards twice (1991 and 1992) for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made For TV. She was also nominated in other awards like American Comedy Awards (1996), Screen Actors Guild Awards (1988), TV Guide Awards (1999) and TV Land Awards (2008).
